1. Goethe-Institut - The Goethe Institut is the most well known German cultural institute worldwide. It doesn't only promote German language but also German culture.

 

2. State Schools – State schools are run by the German government and offer cheap language courses.

 

3. Adult Education Centers (Volkshochschulen) - The Volkshochschulen are local educational institutions that offer many different types of courses, among them language classes. You can find a Volkshochschule in almost every bigger city in Germany, and the courses offered there are usually very cheap. However, you won't find private language courses. Also, the class sizes are usually very big and not organized by language skills. Therefore, you can find many students of any level in the same course. Another disadvantage is that the teachers are not professionally trained language teachers.  

 

4. Private Language Schools – The private language schools are more flexible and focus more on each student's individual needs. On the other hand, these courses are very expensive.
