Your Italian host family should give you enough free time to be able to take Italian classes. You have to pay for the classes, but it can't hurt to ask your family if they are willing to support you.

Take an initial exam to evaluate your Italian level before signing up for a class to make sure you end up in the right class. In Italian language schools you will find classes of every level, from beginner (A1) to advanced (C2).


The School Year in Italy

In Italy, new language courses start every two weeks. The classes are from Monday through Friday in the mornings and the afternoons. The group classes can have up to 13 students. The students come from all over the world, so you could meet other au pairs, foreign exchange students, professionals, and also retired people.
