The country of Spain is on the Iberian Peninsula in the southwest of Europe. Since Spain doesn’t have a regulated au pair program, any citizen from the European Union, one of the EFTA countries, or from certain other countries can work as an au pair in Spain.

Au Pair Working Hours in Spain

    • In Spain, there are no laws regulating the  au pair working hours.  Therefore, your working schedule will be arranged individually with your host family. If you work more hours, you also earn more money. The usual working hours for au pairs in Spain are between 30 and 35 hours per week .
      • Free time : one day per week (at least once a month this day has to be a Sunday)
      • Vacation : 4 weeks per year

    • Au pairs  earn  a salary of  50-70 euros a week  (pocket money per month: 200 – 280 euros).

    • Au pairs in Spain must have the possibility of taking  Spanish classes.  Usually, the host family gives you 2 to 4 days a week in which you can attend a Spanish course.Piece of advice : Ask your host family if they can help you find a Spanish course in your area.
